| Introduction | Started this blog in honor of my "Mother-In-Love" who passed away from severe dementia in July 2012. She and I had a special connection, emotionally and spiritually. She would always say to me when I came to visit her, "You're my Buddy huh", you and me we're Buddy's." While she was in a facility for 3 1/2 years, I made her pillowcases, fleece blankets and anything I thought she might like or could use. After she went to her heavenly home, I came across an article in a Quilt Magazine that talked about "Fidget" Quilts for people with dementia. Oh how I wished I had known about these while she was still with us, as she have had one for every Season! It's very common for dementia patients to "fidget" and I can remembering her doing that. My desire is to make these for friends and family affected by this horrific disease. Also, to teach others how to make them, donate and share them with residents at Alzheimer/Dementia facilities. |
