| Introduction | I'm a mother of 4 children. I myself am one of four children. The first born child to an immigrant Ecuadorian father and first generation Puerto Rican mother. In the tradition of many Hispanic families, our maternal grandmother lived with us. She was a short, stocky, feisty woman, with beautiful coffee and cream skin, whose influence on me continues to this very day. My Abuela is the answer in my life for many things, and a mystery as well. My drive to raise my children in as many of the traditions as she raised me in, is the best way I could come up with to keep her close to me.
I started this blog to create a community of Hispanic parents, where we could trade tips, discuss issues and support each other in our traditions and faith as we move further and further from our roots through time and circumstance. Join me in creating this community, so that as you continue to practice our traditions, not only will you know that we are here with you, but you can say, mis hijos también. |
