Introduction Welcome to Earnest Efforts. We are a husband and wife team from Southern Oregon, about 65 miles from the beautiful Oregon Coast. We met at the Eugene Saturday Market, the longest running outdoor handmade market in the US, where we each had a booth selling our wares. We married a year later in September of 1999 and have a wonderful life together nestled in the woods of our 27 acres with our wonder dog, Myrtle, 3 good hunting cats, twin kittens learning to hunt, 2 roosters, and 6 hens. Earnie has been a woodworker all of his life and been with the Saturday Market for over 20 years. Ellie has been a fiber artist for over 15 years, and handknits and felts wool/mohair blended hats in addition to the woodworking. Our wood boxes are Earnie's signature work. He has an amazing eye for cutting the wood in such a way as to maintain and highlight the natural beauty of the woods. Our most favored tool in the "sawdust cathedral" is the 1953 Boice Crane bandsaw. It is a beautiful machine. No trees are ever cut for our artwork and we are committed to using sustainably harvested woods and eco-friendly materials.
