About me

IntroductionRachel Gomme is an interdisciplinary artist working in performance and installation. She is acclaimed for her gentle, poetic practice, creating durational performance, one-to-one encounters and installations that offer a delicate yet profound engagement with the fleeting moment. Through durational performance, site-specific performance and interactive encounters, she seeks to open a space for engagement with the embodied moment, awareness of the unnoticed detail of bodily presence and processes, and to highlight the viewer’s essential involvement in creating the unique, shared moment of performance. Work includes one-to-one performances Handover and audience; durational performances Hour (for Penelope), Knitting a Rothko, Ravel and Line Drawn Between the Inbreath and the Outbreath. Installation work includes audience : hearing, an exploration of collective silence made in collaboration with John Levack Drever, and site-specific work Artery. Rachel has presented her work throughout the UK and internationally.
