IntroductionJoah works for one of the leading public affairs and business advisory firms in the nation, where he consults Fortune 500, corporate and nonprofit clients. Previously, Joah served as the speechwriter to the director of FEMA, a role he began just days after Hurricane Katrina. Prior to FEMA, Joah served in communications capacities for the University of Texas at Austin, Motorola, Southwest Airlines and top-ten public relations agency GCI Group. Joah, who grew up between Texas and South Carolina, graduated from the University of Texas with a B.S. in Public Relations in 2005. While at Texas, Joah became the first African-American member of one of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity’s oldest chapters, where he was honored as the “Best New Member” and served three years on the executive board. While at Texas, Joah helped establish a charity event benefiting the area Children’s hospital which raised over $55,000 in its first three years. Spearman also served on the Killeen (Texas) board and later on statewide boards for the March of Dimes in Texas. For his involvement, he was honored with the March of Dimes national scholarship in 2001.
