| Introduction | In 2000, I reluctantly became the first cohort of the New York City Teaching Fellows program. I never had any intention of making teaching a full-time career (I wanted to be a writer of children's books, sassy magazine and newspaper articles and life-changing novels!). Yet 11 years later, here I am, very pleased with the decision I have made. I graduated from Ithaca College in 1999 with a BS in journalism and then from Brooklyn College in 2002 with a MS in childhood education. I have worked all over Brooklyn and have taught 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade throughout my career. I love being around children...probably because I consider myself one of them! Since 2006, I've been coaching youth soccer for KidsMove Sports (kidsmovesports.com), which focuses on fundamentals and good sportsmanship. As a member of the Caring School Community committee at P.S. 154, I believe in equality, creating a healthy and safe environment for all students and helping each child work to his/her full potential. As a teacher, I look forward to learning every day and consider myself a true student of life. |
