IntroductionDeborah Krasner got her start in design. Her first book, 'Celtic Design,' explored the interiors of houses in Scotland, Ireland and Wales. This led to her first food book, 'From Celtic Hearths,' a collection of traditional recipes, followed by 'Heirloom Skills and Country Pastimes,' a collection of New England traditions. For many years, Deborah worked simultaneously as a kitchen designer (for clients like Marcela Hazan) and as a foodwriter (for magazines like Food&Wine, Vegetarian Times, Bon Appetit, Real Simple and Wine Enthusiast). After winning a James Beard Award for 'The Flavors of Olive Oil' in 2002, Deborah began hosting culinary vacations in the Vermont and Italian countrysides. These vacations explore local and regional cuisine, while engaging participants directly with food and with food producers. Her most recent book, 'Eating Farm to Fork' (due out in August 2010) explores how to find and cook sustainable meats. She lives in Vermont, with her husband, poodle, two cats, and a growing menagerie of sheep, chickens, geese and guinea fowl.
