Introduction | I started this blog as a class assignment, a way to share writing online with my teachers and classmates. Now that the class is over, I still have the desire to write. I have had a story in me that wants telling for a long time; that silent presence in my childhood, my brother Jimmy and his accidental death at the age of two. This was a tragedy for our family, but one that was NEVER discussed. So now as an adult, it's valuable to unravel the powerful weave that held a tenuous balance at our house. This quiet "secret" influenced much of my life. It's not all I write about, but shedding light on 'stories' that cast a shadow on my heart is important. Pouring words and memories into the writing is like therapy for me. I can let stories live on paper and perhaps release them to the light. I also want to leave a legacy of truth for my children and future generations. I think we all have a story to tell. I know that the ones I write are subjectively mine. I enjoy mining my memories for stories of the past. I also find a comfort in processing what is happening to me from time to time in the present. |
