IntroductionRandom stories, artwork, poetry, eye-witness accounts, commentary as well as book and film reviews. I have a lot going on in my head. For example, I recently put myself in an imaginary position of having to choose the 3 cutest dog breeds, and explain why in front of a committee.
Interestssharpening pencils, binge watching 90s-era sci-fi fantasy shows, savasana pose, le francais, the smell of hardware stores, Ireland, Mad Libs, perfume, drawing, painting, and--most of all--analyzing and diagnosing life around me.
Favorite moviesYoung Frankenstein, Auntie Mame, Black Swan, The Fifth Element, The Age of Innocence, Monty Python and the Holy Grail (and yes, I've already got a grail...it's very nice).
Favorite musicMarina and the Diamonds, Kate Bush, Two Door Cinema Club, The Airborne Toxic Event, Duran Duran, Brad Mehldau, Thievery Corporation, Garbage, early Van Halen, Chaka Khan, Prince, Robyn, David Arkenstone, Karunesh, Esperanza Spalding, Bryan Ferry, Vaughn-Williams, Chopin, French baroque. I'm all over the place!
Favorite booksMysteries, historical fiction, sci-fi fantasies, history. If I had to choose some: Dune (Frank Herbert), The Historian (Elizabeth Kostova), the entire No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series (Alexander McCall Smith), GOT series, Anna Karenina, Rules of Civility (Amor Towles), Brooklyn (Colm Toibin), most anything by E.M Forster, Tony Hillerman, Louise Penny. Random French 19th-20th c poetry --like this by Guillaume (a.k.a Billy) Apollinaire: "Sous le pont Mirabeau coule la Seine Et nos amours Faut-il qu'il m'en souvienne La joie venait toujours après la peine"
