Introduction	I grew up with plenty of freedom, very little money, and beaches galore. Today I have no real fear, and no real skills. I became a Type I Diabetic when I turned 30 (surprise!) and rather than change my diet, I changed my routine. Introduced to the Port Hills by a colleague who was insanely fit, I have continued to grow and accept the challenge of single tracks, mud and hills. Hills, urgh. Down is not a problem, usually, unless it means stopping, but uphill always has been my downfall! (How ironic!) I'm 6'6" tall and about 110kg, and that is a lot to force against gravity, especially when everyone else is half the weight and twice as fit. If I wasn't such a lazy bastard it might be easier... Recently I have started tandem mountain biking with Logan, who is blind but refuses to admit it. He's an old hat at riding tandem but new to the world of mud and hills. I seem to be the right tutor for him as he's full throttle and I am fully aware and resigned to the fact we will eventually fall off and hurt ourselves. Another scar for the collection, and another story to tell the grandkids one day.
