| Introduction | I started writing my blog in 2007. I was working at UNESCO in Paris while my husband was living in Lithuania. In order not to feel lonely and to become frustrated with work, I was entertaining myself by immersing myself in what Paris has to offer and traveling for work and pleasure. Working for the United Nations brings you to exciting places and exposes you to the diversity of cultures. I started recording various experiences so that I could reflect and relive them again. After all, we often feel melancholic that a memorable experience is over and that we have to go back to a routine. At first, I kept the blog private and shared my postings mainly with family and some friends so that they could follow what I am doing. Then I noticed that my tips about countries I visited and experiences I have had are interesting and useful for a wider audience. Therefore, I decided to shape my writing to include more facts and comparisons and local and traditional perspectives. |
