Introduction Jessie Daniels has an MA and PhD in Sociology from the University of Texas at Austin. She is Associate Professor at Hunter College in Urban Public Health. Daniels is the author of two books White Lies (Routledge, 1997) and Cyber Racism (Rowman & Littlefield, 2009), both dealing with race and various forms of media. Currently, she is at work on a number of research projects about digital media, social inequality and health, including: 1) a study of feminist bloggers, and 2) an investigation of how LGBTQ homeless youth use mobile digital devices to survive on the streets.
