Bystander, Inc.
My blogs
| Introduction | Bystander, Inc. has no political affiliation. This blog is devoted to drawing attention to the fault lines running beneath society, the injustice allowed to prosper in our midst and the people who set out to exploit our complacency. It is named after the bystander effect: a social psychological phenomenon where individuals do not offer any means of intervention, support or assistance to those in need, when other people are present. The probability of intervention is inversely related to the number of bystanders; in other words, the greater the number of bystanders, the less likely it is that any one of them will help. Our society has great problems. Can we really afford to be casual bystanders? |
