| Introduction | I have been a private home daycare provider in Gravenhurst, Ontario since 1993. During that time I have had the opportunity to work with and learn from many parents, nearly all of whom were as committed as I was to raising strong, independent, healthy, fit, capable and kind young people they could take anywhere. This career was offered to me at a time when I was on a break from being a realtor. I never in my wildest dreams pictured myself as a childcare provider. It had never occurred to me. In fact the break I was on was the first time I had been a stay-at-home parent for my own two children, then aged 12 and 9. Little did I know it would be what I love to do best. Personally, I am married to a wonderful man, since 1978, and we are the parents of two adult children. Sadly, our daughter took her own life at 21 in 2002 after a lengthy battle with mental illness. Since Julie's death I have become a volunteer with a local grass roots mental health registered charity called The Meeting Place Centre for Growth and Healing (www.themeetingplace-muskoka.ca)with the hope of helping others to prevent such a tragedy. |
| Interests | In my free time I choose to ski or snowshoe in Muskoka or Algonquin Park during the winter; in the summer I love to canoe, kayak, camp, swim, water ski, bike, roller blade and relax; in the spring I enjoy hiking and gardening and in the fall I mostly hike, here in Muskoka or nearby in beautiful Algonquin Park |
