Introduction At the age of 45, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had no family history of cancer and was a non-smoker. As a result of my family's experience with cancer, I know the importance of protecting the very thing working class people value ...their ability to earn income. An illness or injury can strike at any time regardless of age, gender, race, or economic status. My goal is to challenge individuals to start asking themselves, "What would I/we/my family do if I couldn't work?" Many of us who are young and healthy don't think about that question and would rather put off answering this question. But, when you are in the midst of a life-changing situation, it will be too late to plan. Now is the time to plan before it's too late.
