"SEINE" THOUGHTS

| Introduction | I am a man of many faults, but far more hopes and dreams. A "seine" is a net or mesh-like material typically used to catch a large number of fish. As Christian's, we are told to cast our cares upon Jesus, much like a fisherman casting his net (seine) out onto the water. The results will be the same. The seine will be full of fish and our hearts will be full of God's mercy and love. My odyssey over land and sea has been full of joy and wonder. It has been at times difficult and discouraging, but I will continue on, in or out of the boat. It really does seem a little odd, no more like Divine irony. A Bible verse I memorized as a teenager would be one that God has used time and again to teach me so many of lifes lessons. This is extremely ironic since God is speaking through the writings of a fisherman (Apostle Peter) who is telling me to use a "seine" (net) to cast all my cares upon Jesus. I don't really care for the water. I rather fish from the shore. When I do wade into the water you can usually find me in the shallow end... of the kids pool! |
