Introduction	I am an independent scholar with broad expertise in the social and cultural history of crime and criminality. I hold a B.A. from Cornell College, a Ph.D. in English literature from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and an M.L.S. from Rutgers University. I have served as the Special Collections Librarian and the Humanities Librarian at Brandeis University, and I have taught English at Tufts University and Rutgers University.
