| Introduction | I was born and raised in northeast Illinois, spending the majority of my upbringing in the sizeable suburban sprawl of Libertyville. Upon moving to a less prosperous, rural Wisconsin community while still in high school, I experienced the differing values between the privileged and the poor, awakening to a different reality. I carried this experience away off to college, earning an associates degree from the University of Wisconsin-Baraboo before transferring to a four year institution. I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, earning a B.A. in English during the spring of 2005. During my residency, I was introduced to a wide variety of philosophies and developed a Humanistic outlook on life in the process. I studied the works of many great poets and novelists, seeing in their words the powers vested in writing. Looking to practice an active form of Humanism upon graduating, I began and completed my debut novel The Empirical Tales, which I am currently looking to publish. I continue to write and work towards establishing myself as a contributing voice in the modern Humanist movement, hopeful of revolution. |
