| Introduction | Retired educator, brain still sharp (my view), body pretty good, fantastic wife, 2 adult sons, 5 grandkids a joy, love the natural world and write little books for my grand kids about insects, spiders, birds using photos that I take (..rank amateur photographer but love it) - no pic in profile as not mad on pics going on internet. Also not so photogenic now a senior (vanity???). In my long career with the Ed Department of WA I was a primary and secondary teacher, a teacher educator, principal of a K-12 school, a Superintendent of Schools and had two acting stints one as a Director of Operations covering several school districts and the other as Director of Personnel. I hold a BEd and BA from the University of WA and an MEd from the University of Alberta, Canada. I am also a Fellow of the Australian Council of Educational Leaders (FACEL). One of my life credos is never to flaunt or brag about my qualifications as I believe that if truly educated one doesn't do such things. In short I cannot abide intellectual snobbery. I have documented my qualifications and career simply to establish my bona fides to be writing blogs about serious matters like the education of the young. |
