Introduction I am facinated by people and their writing. We are so diverse; it is exciting to engage others in thoughtful sharing and banter. Both in my personal and professional lives I tend to be rather private, and writing is the easiest way for me to express myself. I love words and how they can be so powerful, moving me tremendously.
Interests Writing, Reading, History of ALL kinds, Gardening, Pets, Cooking (I am a foodie), Charity Work and Social Outreach
Favorite Movies 1. "Lillies of the Field" with Sydney Poitier. My favorite, since I was a child and saw it for the first time. No movie is as perfect. 2. "Auntie Mame" with Rosalind Russell. A tour de force that has entranced me my entire life. I have read Rosalind Russell's autobiography "Life is a Banquet" several times. I wanted her to be my aunt. 3. "Johnny Guitar" with Joan Crawford. Great scenery, great time period (western) and simple, strong dialogue. 4. "Wuthering Heights" with Sir Lawrence Olivier. Unbelieveable adaptation of Charlotte Bronte's exquisite novel. 5. "A Room with a View". Merchant Ivory meets E. M. Forster and the results are inspiring. Acually, anything by Merchant Ivory Productions is first rate, including "Maurice", and "Mr. and Mrs. Bridge", starring the Paul Newmans. 5. "Atonement"; I didn't sleep well for days after seeing this film. "Nanny McPhee" (the original) is in my top ten. There are lots of others, but these are the ones I would watch over and over. Like my list? Please suggest to me one of your favorites.
Favorite Music Classical (especially Baroque), Country (especially Alison Krauss). I have also become a fan of Lady Gaga. Great musicality, training and talent.
Favorite Books Jane Austen. Everything. Then Charles Dickens. Everything. Then the Bronte Sisters, Nathaniel Hawthorne, E. M. Forster, Taylor Caldwell, Edith Wharton, and lots of others. I have just reread "The Five People You Meet in Heaven", by Mithc Albom. His words haunt and inspire me. I also love cookbooks (just one great recipe is a reason to buy a book), and whatever my family and friends share with me. Just starting "Driving with Dead People" by Monica Holloway
