About me

Location Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Introduction I teach in the English at Marquette University with dual specializations in nineteenth-century American literature and creative writing. My books include Distance Learning (poems, 1998), Schoolroom Poets (criticism, 2005), Bird Skin Coat (poems, 2009), and The Sleeve Waves (poems, 2014). I also co-edited, with Karen Kilcup, an anthology, Over the River and Through the Wood: Nineteenth-Century Children's Poetry (2013).
Interests Cuteness: when, where, and how did it emerge as a deliberate, mediated strategy in American arts and letters?
