| Introduction | Shirley D. Downie has a lot on her mind. Although having recently graduated with a Communications degree, Shirley's finely honed relationship skills have resulted in a diverse network of individuals to whom she credits her ongoing professional and personal success. The value she attributes to interpersonal relationships became particularly focused in 2008, when Shirley lost her husband Russell in a motorcycle accident. In working through her grief cycles with close friends and family, Shirley faced another significant loss: the unexpected death of her best friend Liz in the early part of 2010. A licensed life insurance agent, Shirley now specializes in Advanced Planning, helping families to avoid the manageable factors brought on by the death of a loved one, to allow survivors to simply experience "the devastation of their loss" in their own time and space. Shirley's mission is to share her experiences and lessons learned with the world. |
