| Introduction | After a career of full time art education, I now use those energies to make art about the local land and humans impact upon it. Currently I am parsing how the colonial history of Oregon overlays this verdant and richly layered land that was OBVIOUSLY home to many Tribes before their removal. This has led me to work for social change, specifically renaming the creek in Forest Park to kulla kulla Creek at the suggestion of the Tribes. My work can often be found at Gallery 114 in PDX and at HelloArt.com. An interview about my work can be heard here. (start at 4 minutes!) I was awarded the Oregon Arts Commission - Individual Artist Award in 2025. As a teacher was awarded the "Sunburst Award" for Artistic Excellence in Enhancing Young People’s Education - from Young Audiences. In 2012 I was honored with "Art Educator of the Year" - Elementary level, by Oregon Art Education Association. I earned my BA from Carleton College, my MFA from University of Wisconsin-Madison and my MAT from Lewis and Clark College. |
