a square peg
My blogs
| Introduction | Are we not all square pegs trying to find an equally square hole that will embrace us and support us completely? As participants, willingly or not, of this massive, thriving mass of flesh known as humanity, we spend our lives searching for a lifestyle, a political ideology, a family, a religion, a culture that fits us perfectly. We long for acceptance, meaning, and truth. Many accept the holes that our family and culture have designated for us, fulfilling such roles dutifully and faithfully, rarely questioning the forces that have shaped us. Others have rejected the legacy of our fathers and have boldly stepped out and found other spiritual beliefs, political parties, and social groups to identify ourselves with. And still others are dissatisfied with the choices presented to us and spend our lives attempting to fabricate new, radically different ideologies, only to realize that these, too, are still ill-fitting, inconvenient holes. One is led to ask: Is there another way? Is there such thing as a perfect fit? How do I fit into this crazy mass of humanity? Am I missing something? I write for all these people, as I, too, am a square peg that hasn’t quite found my hole. |
