About me

Introduction	We met in 1999 when we were in our late 30s, fell in love, built a house, and married. Blake was just retiring from aerospace engineering to pursue his passion of making art. Deborah was a cosmetologist, business owner, musician and interior designer. We had each travelled a fair bit pre-marriage, both personally and professionally. Now together we find travel both inspires us and feeds our hunger for art, history, music, science and nature. In 2008 we realized the typical two- or three-week trips just weren’t enough and started planning months-long travel adventures, often using house-sitting and work exchange to moderate the cost and expand the experiences. We have spent up to 6 months abroad in places like Australia, Fiji, Europe, Mexico, Japan and Hawaii. In Hawaii we bought land and designed and built a house, which we sold in May of 2017, along with nearly all our possessions. Now we are travelling the world with no set itinerary and no end date in mind. At some point we will probably settle into a new home base but for now we can enjoy being unburdened with “stuff” and have come to the realization that the most prized possession each of us has is each other.
