Introduction	I’m a lay leader in a merged American Baptist-United Church of Christ congregation in Bloomington, IN. In a past life I was a Pentecostal church pianist… then I came out of the closet (we mutually agreed I should leave). A bit like Goldilocks, I tried a lot of church pews: Methodist, Lutheran, Episcopalian, Presbyterian, Unitarian, Unity, Catholic, Quaker (too quiet for the Pentecostal in me), Metropolitan Community Church, and even the church where I am now. But nothing felt quite right. Then this church was expelled from the Baptist Indiana Region (they ordained a gay man) so I tried the pew again… and it felt just right.
