| Introduction | I was born in East LA and lived thereabouts through kindergarten. Subsequently, we moved to Alaska. After graduating from high school, I got the crazy idea to become a professional student. I ended up with a BS (Ocean Engineering), MS (Engineering Mechanics), PhD (Mechanical Engineering). During all those studies (and parties) I always told myself that I would return to Alaska as I consider that my home -- it hasn't happened yet but I bought a house in Homer and I travel there frequently. Since finishing school I have been working in a research laboratory for about 12 years. In between all of that I have been married and divorced, traveled to Europe and around the US, had a couple of relationships and done a fair amount of mountaineering in Colorado.
