| Introduction | Vanessa Mak obtained her LL.M. from Erasmus University Rotterdam in 2001 (cum laude). She continued her law studies at the University of Oxford, where she obtained her M.Jur (with distinction) in 2002 and subsequently a D.Phil degree in 2006. Her book, entitled 'Performance-Oriented Remedies in European Sale of Goods Law', appeared with Hart Publishing in January 2009. From 2005-2007 she was a Lecturer in Law at Oriel College, Oxford; following which she was as a visiting researcher at the Max Planck Institute in Hamburg in 2007-2008. Since 2008, she is affiliated with Tilburg University, where she is an Assistant Professor of Private Law and a research fellow of the Tilburg Institute of Transnational and Comparative Law (TICOM). Her research interests are in European private law, consumer law, EU law, and private law theory. She is currently working on a project on 'systematisation in European private law'. |
