| Introduction | A background in Industrial Design indirectly led to a twelve year career in web and software development. I find open-source software interesting--both self-serving and altruistic endeavor that we at think design have been pursuing for several years; as contributors to the steve art museum social tagging project and before that to the user and object-centric museum education tool nexhibition. My experience with museums and particularly through the steve project shows how much can be gained through inter-institutional collaboration. To that end we have started the Museum Software Foundation, to encourage and nurture the development of open-source museum software. |
