| Introduction | A product of Wigan College in the late 70's, five years working down south designing magazines. An agency in Chester, a fairly undistinguished 16 months working for the Wigan Observer, two amazing years at another agency in Chester under the guidance of Malcolm Proundlove - what a guy and dodging Gordon McCale's bullets before being head-hunted to join the Georgia Group. Company director for 11 years before deciding the direction my business partner was taking the company wasn't one I shared and heading to Preston, then Blackpool to work for design companies before via my old lecturer and mentor Brian Nicholson 'getting' into education . . . but that journey ended in March 2017 . . . time to do something different. |
| Interests | Well obviously graphic design but being a little long in the tooth these days what used to be a passion is more a job than ever before. But bad design and people who say they want to be designers but they don't want to work hard to achieve will always offend. Kerning, corporate look and funny advertising get my attention. Outside of graphics, although I'm into the 'livery' on 'frames' my passion is the Tour de France particularly and cycle racing in Europe. Stood at the side of the road in London, Paris and l'Alpe d'Huez to watch Le Tour go past. Although too heavy to be any good, cycling, again in France, up and particularly down the major climbs in the Alps is a passion . . . you've no idea just how difficult and how far those climbs are - Col de la Croix de Fer - 25 miles up!!!! |
| Favorite movies | Can't say I have anything as a favourite - I certainly know all the words to Winnie the Pooh and a Blustery Day if that counts |
| Favorite music | When he was alive anything John Peel played - changed my appreciation of music from middle of the road 'pap'. Radio 6 has given me the defibrillator 'jolt' I needed. |
| Favorite books | I'm dyslexic . . . so reading doesn't come up high on the list I've bought loads of books for myself and for college - but for the pictures!!!! |
