| Introduction | I am a retired teacher who grew up watching old movies. At an early age I began reading everything I could about the movie studios, and actors and actresses of the times. Watching Jeanette MacDonald inspired me to find out as much as possible about the operas from which she sang excerpts. I wept right along with Robert Taylor as Garbo died in his arms in "Camille." I sighed when Gable carried Vivien Leigh up that staircase. I was amazed at the choreography of Busby Berkley and the Dancing of Astaire and Rogers and Gene Kelly and Cyd Cherisse. I wanted to jump in the pool with Esther Williams even though I couldn't swim very well. The movies were my fantasy life not matched by reality. I have a great respect for all things from the past and I have started this blog to share my thoughts and those of others about All Things Vintage. |
