Mrs. Dalloway
My blogs
| Introduction | "In my ever expanding universe of 'Mrs Dalloway' there is Mrs Dalloway the critic: cutting to the chase, demanding the impossible, resisting the inevitability of environmental collapse and scorning all that is dull. There is Mrs Dalloway the struggling artist: struggling to find the words for a spontaneous eruption of delight, struggling to collect enough post-consumer waste to build a better world, and struggling to unleash the politics of play. And then, there is Mrs Dalloway, art diva. Mrs Dalloway found an intersection for visual cultural research. She donned a wig, bright lipstick and videod herself dramatically reading texts out loud. In colored wigs, wearing fabulous sunglasses, she read John Cage and Jean Baudrillard to the camera. With humor, resilience and wackiness, Mrs Dalloway has thrown her boundless energies into creating immersive environments intended to alert us to the environmental degradation resulting from the proliferation of water bottles. Between trash transcendence and putting the breaks on global catastrophe: we make play a serious business." |
