Introduction I am a teacher and learner who believes I have chosen the most meaningful profession in the world. I am interested in the whole child and do my best to get to know each child as an individual so that I may best serve their development into caring, confident and accomplished human beings. I am a teacher/consultant with the National Writing Project and a professional storyteller. As part of the Cross-City Collaborative for Literacy,I conducted research on literacy through GW University and was selected to present my findings at the National Writing Project's 2008 Annual Conference in Washington, DC. My academic paper on my findings was published in the Inspired Teaching Journal in August 2008. I was selected as a Teacher of the Year by the Great Books Foundation in May 2009, one of ten teachers selected nationally. I am the mother of a 22-year-old son, Niall, and the stepmother of three children ages 20-24. My husband is a business owner and a fun-loving, generous man. We have one cat, Professor Coconut and two dogs, a Norwegian Elkhound named Smokemaster Smoke and a mixed breed puppy named Mr. Bear. I am very busy and loving it!
