Introduction I raised my children primarily as a single mother. I became a grandmother or Meme as I prefer to be called, when I was 39. I remarried at 40 and two years later our nest was empty. One year later, I lost my job.

In January of 2011, I began the search to discover the purpose for my life. I had rushed into marriage and having babies at a young age and once they were gone, along with my job, I realized I had no sense for who I was as an individual. I had become defined by my job and when I lost that, I really lost myself.

My life has been consumed by striving to become who, what, and where everyone else needed me to be. I bought into a lie that alot of women buy which was that a career was more valuable and fulfilling than being a wife and mother.

As I look around me I see an overwhelming need for older parents to mentor and lead our younger parents. This blog was born out of my personal attempt to do a better job mentoring my own adult children.
