| Introduction | I'm Yailenne Escobar and I founded Para Las Mujeres in the Spring of 2019. My brother sat me down, asking me to think about what role I had as a woman and how did I want to be seen in this world. After hearing how much passion I had for bringing women's injustices and oppression to light, that same day I created this platform. It is meant to uplift and share the feelings, experiences, and observations that BIPOC women (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) endure right before my eyes. I have realized that it is in my power to use my voice to express that these Women deserve more- that I deserve more. This work is for my ancestors and for the future generations to come, Para Las Mujeres is a safe space to be true to yourself. ~Chicago Native, Colombiana living in Brooklyn, writing comfortably from under my Cobija (a Spanish word for Blanket) while the slow-burning of Palo Santo aroma fills up my bedroom.❤ |
