| Introduction | As part of WWF's initiative to conserve Himalayan high altitude wetlands, the Green Hiker campaign was launched to raise awareness about the vulnerability of the fragile Himalayan ecosystem and the grave environmental damage that unsustainable tourism can cause to it. This campaign is for hikers, trekkers, pilgrims, tour operators, hoteliers, ANYBODY who has something to do with the majestic Himalayas. The campaign encourages everybody to be 'green hiker', and to observe the unspoken rules of nature and adopt eco-friendly practices while hiking in the Himalayas. |
