| Introduction | My name is Aviana, but I go by Avi, wife or WOG (Woman of God). This nick-name started when Rick and I were dating, and it stuck! I was raised catholic and attended church. Because of what I knew about God and what I did, I believed I was going to heaven when I died. I thought I was a good person, or at least, good enough. In 2002, my dad who practiced no religion put his faith in Christ and "shared" Him with me. Shortly after, I prayed the "sinner's prayer," but my life was unchanged. Quite the opposite, I continued enjoying and walking towards sin. Another moral ritual, I now thought believing in Jesus and doing some of what was commanded of me, secured my salvation. During my college years, I continued living to please myself and got everything I wanted. But by 2012, these things no longer satisfied or went away. I felt empty, but this was when I believe God called me to Himself. I began wanting to read the word daily, attend church consistently and sign up for my first women's bible study. Sometime between 2012 and 2013, I began to loathe my sin and love the Lord. My faith became alive, I repented of my sin and I was surrendered to Christ. |
