| Introduction | Name it destiny or simply part of my path, but something made me open the Sunday newspaper several years ago with vacation planning in mind. I was looking for great travel ideas to whet my appetite and make dreams come true. There was a special section on the Taos Institute of Arts which was offering a course on “image transfers,no photography experience necessary,” so I signed up, borrowed a camera and set off for Taos. Our daily assignment was to take photographs of anything we wanted. I was fascinated with the statues of Mother Mary in the area’s many mission churches. But with all there is to capture on film in Taos, why was I so drawn to the many Madonnas? The answer was immediately there for me. Mother Mary has always been my refuge, my mother of comfort, the mother who gives me unconditional love and teaches me the graceful way to live. I have no doubt that Mary asked me to compile this book. The stories flow from the many people I have encountered on my travels. It is this type of story, this type of faith that is needed right now in our culture, our society. I want to help the world learn about the comforting presence of Mother Mary. I hope you will share your stories. |
