Introduction	This Blog is created by the students in Dr. Carel Bertram's class, "Cultural Expression in Islam," at San Francisco State University in the Spring of 2017. It represents our class effort to use Chase Robinson's "Islamic Civilization in Thirty Lives, The First 1,000 Years" to become familiar with this era. Each of us will take one of his 30 biographies and read more deeply about the character, and then present him and her as a window into the past. We are excited.
