Introduction What is a Tall Poppy? That's an Aussie expression for "a happy high achiever." I'm not so sure about the achiever part...but I do tend to find myself in some interesting situations. Come along with me! Want to get in touch? I'd love to hear from you! Contact: seattletallpoppy AT gmail DOT com
Interests I'm a food geek who is passionate about the business of food and the people who create it. My aim is to reclaim a sense of community though food. From back room dinners to site visits and author interviews, from cooks to farmers, butchers to bakers, my goal is to bring people back to the table, one plate at a time. While gearing up for an around the world trip, an important discovery has brought me much closer to the culinary diversity here in Seattle. Favorite Books Besides being a voracious reader of cookbooks, I love the writings of Martha Gellhorn. In the end, if my life looks like hers, I'll consider it a life well lived. I'm currently preparing for an around the world trip. While my travel plans aren't firm yet, I've been reading a number of books to shed some light on areas of interest: "Spice: The History of a Temptation" by Turner "Oracle Bones: A Journey Through Time in China" by Peter Hessler "Connections" by James Burke "Get the Picture" by John G. Morris "Cultural Intelligence" by Thomas & Inkson "The Culture Code" by Clotaire Rapaille I also read an embarrasing number of business books.
