Introduction I'm a newbie in the vegan business, and by newbie I mean 1 month as of September 7, 2010. I was born and raised in the country area of Virginia. My whole life my family has raised our own pigs (and killed them of course) grown all of our own produce and canned it all for the winter time. I was raised on all the southern staples collard greens, smothered pork chops, macaroni and cheese and my mothers famous hot biscuits. Becoming a vegan was never something I thought I'd do...until I met my fiance' who isn't a vegan but doesn't eat pork or eggs (two of my favorites). I slowly began to take those things out of my diet and researched vegetarian and vegan diets. I read a book by Tracye McQuirter called "By any Greens Necessary" for African-American women wanting to become vegan, and here I am taking on a vegan lifestyle of my own!
