| Introduction | I have really spent my entire life in an early childhood environment. Being the daughter of an early childhood director, I literally “grew up” in preschool classrooms. As a high school student, I volunteer working with young children and would always spend my summers in child-care and camp settings. This continued into college, when I taught in an innovative Reggio-inspired school and also worked as a drama specialist. During this time, I recognized the unique qualities of all children. Through my experience, I have found that children learn best when they can discover and explore in classrooms that provide opportunities for open-ended activities and hands-on experiences. Teachers, parents and children form a community. On a personal level, I am originally from the Washington DC area and moved to New Orleans in May of 2006 after graduating from Frostburg State University with a BS in Theater. I have a husband named Jason and 2 cats named Bearkat and Sammy. |
