AFGHANISTAN - WHAT YOU DON'T SEE ON TV.
My blogs
| Introduction | I was born in Kabul, Afghanistan during the last years of its golden era. My early childhood memories are of a loving extended family, sitting around a traditional feast of delicious food, as the melodious voice of Ahmad Zahir filled the room. My family was forced to flee Afghanistan when I was 3 years as the communists took over. I spent the rest of my life growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area. I went to school, got a degree and enjoyed all the conveniences being an American offered me. Immediately, after September 11th, the course of my life changed. I embarked on a life changing journey back to my homeland where I spent the majority of the next twenty years living, working in. I returned to the US a couple of years ago but have remained engaged and active in Afghanistan. I started this blog to give readers a glimpse into my life in Afghanistan and to show a different perspective than what was being presented by the media. Today, in light of recent events, it is more important than ever to remember these experiences and the Afghanistan of the last 20 years. Please read, like, comment, share and subscribe. |
