About me

Gender Male
Occupation Retired
Introduction I hold UK Amateur Radio callsign G8OSN and US Extra callsign W8OSN. I live in Kent, with my wife Linda (G6MXR). We have three daughters, who are all licensed. One is a Barrister, one has a Masters in Chemistry and is studying for a PhD, one is studying Medicine and has already gained a Masters.   I was part of the team which developed the UK's progressive licence examination scheme and the main author of the International Amateur Radio Examination syllabus, which is endorsed by the IARU for use by countries lacking an indigenous examination scheme. I also instigated the RSGB's Train the Trainers scheme and Morse Proficiency scheme.    Locally, I am a member of  the MARTS, one of the oldest amateur radio clubs in the UK. I am also an Extra Class accredited Volunteer Examiner (VE) for American (FCC) licence examinations. I was an Engineer for 25 years after which I taught Mathematics in a leading local specialist Mathematics school. I am now retired and spend my free time playing radio, computers (Linux) and travelling with my wife in our Motorhome.
