Introduction Superficial living filled with blurred days is like gulping down food without tasting it. What a waste of time and energy. An antidote for that kind of existence is reading evocative literature that nurtures the soul. By opening my mind and heart to literature's healing qualities, life slows down, and by meditating on the words, I savor insights about me and others. If we, who have known the restorative effects of literature do not spread the gospel of it, who will? My favorite quote is: "It's not how much you do, but how much love you put in the doing," by Mother Theresa.
Interests I thrive on reading evocative literature, writing prose and poetry, and freelance writing about literature, culture, science and law. I have two dreams: to publish short stories and to be a cog in the wheel that improves federal and state laws for the better treatment of the mentally ill. My heart breaks when I see mind-infirmed people roaming Los Angeles’ streets like lost children. My favorite words are UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.
Favorite Movies One of my favorite movies is "The Professional." The point of the story is that redemption is possible for any person. Will every person redeem himself/herself from evil or narcissism? Not likely, but I cling to the possibility that each person has the option within his/her will to become a new creature. Another favorite is "Princess Bride." The movie is an allegory of the "trials" of real life.
Favorite Books The novels, Don Quixote by Miguel De Cervantes, and Les Misérables by Victor Hugo, are my favorite books, but I have many more. The transcendent idea in Cervantes’ book is to look beyond an individual's surface features and actions to the person's motivations. Hugo’s novel inspires a reader to assist other fellow human beings as we travel on our individual roads towards redemption.

How has the reading of Poe’s literature affected your understanding of self?
