| Introduction | My first love is food...red velvet cupcakes in particular elicit the most happiness. If a red velvet cupcake ever got down on one knee...I would be Mrs. Cupcake right now. Out of this love, another obsession has emerged first out of necessity, then blossomed into a love affair: my love for running. I don't run very fast or very far; I just run. I think part of my love for running is my love for sunshine, solitude, and endorphins. I also teach high school math out of necessity, but out of this necessity, another greater love also emerged: my love for helping kids discover what God has blessed them with. It is so much more gratifying to do this through coaching Cross Country, but sadly that is not what pays the bills, nor is it really my strength. So math has been the vehicle by which I have helped kids surprise themselves with what they are capable of achieving. It is an amazing process to be a part of, and brings me great satisfaction to witness. I honestly believe God intended for me to be a spotlight for others. He made me pretty good at making other people shine brighter. I keep wondering if there are other places He needs me to work besides in the classroom... |
