| Introduction | Thirty years ago I raised my first monarch butterfly with the help of my two young sons. Since that time, I have raised and released thousands of these fragile creatures, while expanding my knowledge about nature. Although I have considered myself a citizen scientist for many years, I had the opportunity to further enrich my knowledge by completing the Ohio Certified Naturalist Volunteer program through The Ohio State University. Currently I am a member of my community's Parks and Recreation Board where I have the responsibility of overseeing a 28 acre nature preserve, complete with a butterfly garden and mason bee boxes. |
