Which do you prefer and why: whittling with soap or whistling with wood?

Whittling with soap reminds me of my days as a tagalong with my brothers' boy scout troop, and whistling with wood reminds me of playing quena... I'm not good at either. I am, however, very skilled at whistling using an acorn top. It's a natural rape whistle.
