| Introduction | Emeraude Beront is the "nome de plume" of Sylvia Ontaneda-Bernales, an attorney, journalist, educator and published author. A graduate of the George Washington University School of Law, she is licensed in Maryland and Washington, D.C., and has been admitted to the Federal Bar (United States District Court for the District of Maryland) and to the Supreme Court of the United States. She has produced and hosted several radio and television shows, including the PBS/Reno Public Affairs show “To the Point” and also produced and directed documentaries, such as “Making a Difference: A Celebration of Women in Politics.” She has received numerous academic and professional honors, including The Robert Laxalt Writing Award and Outstanding Magazine Editor Award. |
