| Introduction | I have been a chronic pain patient for more than half of my life. I was first formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 1976 when it was called Fibrocytis and few doctors accepted it as a legitimate disorder. In 1980, I was diagnosed with degenerative joint and disc disease and my life with daily pain began. Since that time, I have had eight open spinal surgeries with number nine scheduled for December 26, 2012. I was able to work up until December of 1993 and went on disability in 1995. Since that time, I have concentrated on chronic pain advocacy as able. |
